What do the stars of Hollywood use to keep that youthful glow?
The answer might surprise you. It's not facelifts or laser resurfacing, but painless, non-invasive lunchtime procedures known as Microdermabrasion and Glycolic Acid Peels. If your concern is sun damage, fine lines or acne, we recommend a series of 6 treatments approximately 1 week apart. Blotchiness, uneven skin tones and texture will also be improved. A single session will not give the same results as a series of 6; however a single treatment will give a noticeable difference. Your skin will be brighter, smoother and luminous, a perfect pick-me-up for when the skin is tired and dull looking.
What are the treatments like?
Microdermabrasion - This gentle exfoliation is performed with a jet of fine mineral crystals passing over the skin’s surface by creating a gentle vacuum. The crystals lay on the skin along with the dead/damaged skin cells. The crystals gently exfoliate approximately 20-25 microns of dead skin cells of the outermost layer (stratum corneum). Once removed it reveals one’s own fresher, younger looking skin beneath. Following the treatment, your skin will be treated with a specialized mask to further enhance the procedure.
Glycolic Acid Peels - A Glycolic Acid Peel is a safe and painless process that exfoliates the epidermis to treat problems that lie in the deeper layers of the skin. The treatment smoothes and softens the skin, significantly decreases the appearance of fine lines and deeper wrinkles, reduces acne outbreaks, evens skin tones, and lightens hyperpigmented areas. Glycolic Acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid derived from sugar cane. It quickly penetrates and loosens the 'cement' that binds dead, old cells to the stratum corneum to permit the top layers of dead skin to shed evenly and rapidly. The new cells which emerge look fresher because they're younger and healthier. Also, studies have also shown that continued use of glycolic exfoliation may speed up cell turnover and stimulate the production of collagen (the protein fiber that keeps skin from sagging and wrinkling).
